About the MGS choir

The Methodist Girls' School (MGS) Choir from Singapore strives to bless the people around them with the joy of music. Passion, diligence and a sense of shared responsibility are instilled into each chorister as music is learnt and made.

Sharing their love of singing through performances and competitors, the MGS Choir is one of 30 school choirs in the Singapore Ministry of Education's Choral Excellence Programme. The coir was most recently awarded the Certificate of Distinction award at the biennial Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging for Choirs in 2013, and attained the Gold with honours award in 2011. The choir also has the privilege of regularly travelling abroad for festivals and competitions, and has returned with excellent results in San Francisco (1999), Athens (2004), Bratislava(2007), Prague(2007), St Petersburg(2010), Prague and Vienna(2012) and most recently Macau (2015).

The MGS Choir organises Cantabile, a yearly collaborative concert series where we have formed valuable partnerships with many other school choirs to perform for appreciative audiences. In contributing to the local arts community, the MGS choir has hosted several performance-exchange programmes and workshops for other local choirs and has performed at the prestigious Esplanade and School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA) concert hall. The MGS Choir endeavours to be service to our school, community and our heavenly Father with the voices He has blessed us with.

To date, our choir has sung many different choral masterpieces and a sample of recordings made by us during our trip to Macau in 2015 can be accessed at this website!
